NetBeans Birthday Celebration Decathlon

To honor 10 years of the NetBeans project and community, we've selected ten events that anyone can participate in to be a part of the celebration. The first 300 participants to complete events that add up to 50 points will receive a limited edition NetBeans 10th Anniversary Shirt! In keeping with the spirit of community, these events are all based around various community activities and sites: blogging, forums, Facebook and more. So read on, pick out your favorite events and celebrate away!

Rules

1. 10 events, each worth a different amount of points.
2. Complete any number of events that tally up to 50 points.
3. IMPORTANT: Keep track of links to blog entries, forums, and so on. You will need to submit these links in the Decathlon Entry Form.
4. The first 300 participants to complete the Decathlon form will be eligible to receive a limited edition NetBeans 10th Anniversary T-shirt.
5. There is no judging, so be creative, reminisce, and have fun!
6. The Decathlon ends on Monday, October 27th, 2008.

Decathlon Events

Event 1: Birthday Blog Writing

Write a blog post about one of the following things: (15 points)

• How you use the NetBeans IDE or Platform
• A project developed with the NetBeans IDE or Platform
  
• Your best NetBeans story

Event 2: Plugin Review

Visit the NetBeans Plugin Portal and submit a comment or review about your favorite NetBeans plugin. You can also leave feedback here. (5 points)

Event 3: Multimedia Birthday Greeting

Post a video to YouTube or record a short podcast wishing the NetBeans Project a "Happy 10th!" (15 points)

Event 4: Take a Survey

Fill out a NetBeans Survey. (10 points)

Event 5: Forum Posting

Participate in a forum thread dedicated to our 10th Anniversary. (5 points)

Event 6: Social Networking

We're on Facebook! Join the group and post a message! (5 points)

Event 7: Demo Time

Demo the NetBeans IDE to a colleague, friend, or even better, a NetBeans skeptic! Post a blog entry or video about the experience. (10 points)

Event 8: Get Psychic

What do you think the future holds for the NetBeans IDE and the community? Write a blog entry or a NetBeans forum post. (10 points)

Event 9: NetBeans Scrapbook

Post a NetBeans-related photo of you or your friends to our Facebook photo album. (10 points)

Event 10: Wave at a NetBeans Partner

Over the years, we've developed some great partnerships. Watch our collection of partner webinars and provide feedback. 15 points)
